Let me start this off by telling you about me. I am an educated 24-year-old with a great start to my career, strong family support, fantastic and fun-loving friends and complete confidence in who I am. I associate with the millennial culture in more aspects than I am willing to admit, I struggle with my sense of beliefs and find myself questioning if I am too old or too young to be doing something meaningful with my life. Alongside that, I am a people pleaser with a tendency to suffer in silence.

What I am saying is I am human. It is SO SO important you know who you are and let that shine. By reading these books they allowed me to break out of my flaws and put them to work. Trust me, after reading all of these you will be done with playing games, letting yourself give up on your dreams and have a deeper understanding of who you are as a person.  Don’t let anyone get in your way and do ya thang, B.

Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dream Girl

Ladies, meet your new bible.
Let me start off by saying this book changed my world. I look at dating in a completely different light because of Sherry Argov. #RESPECT Any woman who needs a refresher in how to interact with the opposite sex and value themselves should pick this book up.  Sherry Argov is a comedian and radio show host that puts her relationship advice forward in the book Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dream Girl-A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship. Day in and day out women go through the world with the word “Bitch” hanging over their head. Sherry Argov reclaims and redefines this word to mean strong, feisty, and entirely in control of her own life through the lens of a man’s eye.  Once attached, most women, start being too nice.  They compromise when they should not and give more than what they might receive. Guys have a completely different mindset and mistake women’s niceness as a mission accomplished assume they don’t have to try to win her over anymore.  Why Men Love Bitches is a self –help classic that will have women feeling empowered and in charge of their own worth in a relationship. This book isn’t about playing games; it’s about learning how men think. Full of dating scenarios, Argov discusses her principles to turn a causal relationship into a committed one. Cater to yourself before another person.

“Men don't respond to words. What they respond to is "no contact".”

"If someone else doesn't like your confidence, that's their problem. Why? You always come before they do, that's why.”

Girl Wash Your Face

Girl, you NEED this book. This is such an easy read with high impact motivation to help you achieve your dreams. Rachel Hollis puts all of her insecurities, vulnerabilities, and personal stories out there for the world to read to help us boss babes make our impact on the world. Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be is a real kick in the pants with Hollis’ tips and tricks on making your dreams come true. She focuses on the lies she tells herself (most parallel with the lies we tell ourselves)  but retracts them with indispensable advice and support, as well as motivation to live your life unafraid of failure or lessons learned. You can do hard things, girls! This book gives you that little push you were probably searching for. Step one is getting the book, and step two is making your dreams come true. Keep calm and don’t let people tell you NO!

“Our society makes plenty of room for complacency or laziness; we’re rarely surrounded by accountability. We’re also rarely surrounded by sugar-free vanilla lattes, but when I really want one, I somehow find a way to get one.”

“Whatever is going to give you more time, more space, more freedom to find your center? Say yes please, to that!”

The Princess Saves Herself in This One

Remember those princess stories you would read before bed as a kiddo? The princess was locked away in a tower surrounded by a fire-breathing dragon, while she waits for her prince to come to save her. I never realized how big of a metaphor for life that plot was. Amanda Lovelace’s the princess saves herself in this one brought this analogy to life and separated this classic fairytale into four parts: The Princess, The Damsel, The Queen, and You. The first three sections discuss some of the authors’ personal stories dealing with heavy dark aspects of life such as bullying, depression, cancer, and heartbreak. The last part is a message for you, as the reader on knowing your worth.

This book isn’t something you are going to enjoy. No. This is a book that will unwind you, bring tears to your eyes, and internally rip you apart. This book reads like poetry but contains such valid points that it was borderline self-help. I knew I was going to love and hate this book tub the realizations I took away from these pages are so important to everyone in their early adult stages. Find you before someone defines you.

"when
someone
offers to
save you
make it
your mission
to

save yourself"
-i believe in you

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. At the end of the day, when you’re tucked in your sheets, about ready to close your eyes with glimpses of the day flickering in your mind, THAT is when you know if you are genuinely happy with who you are and where your life is at. It is only you in the little moment of time that you can check in with. If you are not authentically happy at that moment in time, you need to start taking steps to make a change.
