The US is a vast place with a lot to offer. There is the countryside, the rivers, possible mountains; it all contributes to an atmosphere that you're probably craving after days in the office. So, when you’re looking for a place to hole up for the weekend, where’s good to go?
In Washington (the state, not the capital, although not a bad option either) you are spoiled with choices of these locations. I’ve been to Washington a couple of times and it has never disappointed. It’s the perfect place for a little getaway. There are urban areas such as Seattle, renowned for the Space Needle and other areas that cater to those more interested in the natural beauty of the state such as the Columbia River George. Whatever scenery you want, Washington has it.
Chehalis
If you want quaint, quiet and old school Chehalis is the spot for you. A town dripping in history, Chehalis has enough museums for the most avid history buffs to stay interested in a weekend, and when you’re looking for a hotel in Chehalis, Washington, look no further than Econo Lodge. It is a one-stop shop that will have all the amenities you’ll need for your romantic weekend away, like complimentary breakfast. The fact it’s close by to the museums and the malls makes it even more convenient. All your historic destinations are just footsteps away from your hotel front! It’ll be a nice rest stop to have your hotel so close and all your activities nearby, in case you need a mid-afternoon nap like I do on the daily.
Head an hour and a half north and you will stumble upon the emerald city...
It’s the emerald city of Washington. Seattle has everything that you would want from 5-star hotels to ferry boat rides that take you to some of the most scenic restaurants in the city. Bustling and iconic, be sure to check out the Sky View Observatory, giving you a very impressive view across the whole city and the prime opportunity to snap a cute photo for the 'gram. I say splurge a little. Snag a room with a view and don’t skimp out on a fancy dinner. Any place with seafood won't let your taste buds down.
A hop skip and a jump away east (18 min to be exact) is...
Bellevue sits right across from Lake Washington. It’s an ideal destination for the lovers out there as there is a massive emphasis on the green spaces and activities to do. Take off at the Museum of Flight and see some aircraft and space vehicles on display. The nature lovers within you can really enjoy the trails of Mercer Slough National Park. There’s nothing better than a picnic in the sunset. Dont forget the wine! Before starting the day, be sure to stop at one of the local coffee shops. Each one is vastly different from the other with coffee flavors that would make a Colombian proud.
Four hours East you will find....
Spokane
When you want adventure, Spokane offers it in spades. There are a lot of outdoorsy activities to consider since Spokane is right along the Spokane River, but they have thriving bars and clubs where you can while away the late-night hours. Spokane Falls is based in the Riverfront Park, which has over one hundred acres of greenery to drink in. Go together on the Spokane Falls Skyride and the thrill seekers among you can take a tour with Mica Moon Zip Tours. Find some serenity at the Spokane Symphony Orchestra for an enjoyable time and a break from the hustle and bustle.
Finding the right place to go for a long weekend is going to depend on your likes and dislikes. The best thing to do is to look for the right accommodation as a base for your weekend and build it up from there. There’s nothing wrong with finding the beauty outside a hotel, so plan some great activities to kick start your trip!
Those are beautiful cities. I have explored them myself
ReplyDeleteThese are great travel recommendations! I've always wanted to go to Seattle, but I wasn't really aware of what else there is to do in Washington!
