Hello,

Thank you for your email. I am currently out of the office. I will return when I want to.

Please expect a reply sometime in the next 47-85 business days.

Warm regards,

Jordan

I really want to put on an ‘out of office’ message. Not because I don’t want to talk to anyone, but I just want to go somewhere. I’ve got a case of the Travel Bug and it is biting me hard. I only have one problem… I don’t know where to go! I know, I know, what a typical millennial problem to have. It’s not like it’s a bad problem, but there are so many places to see and I’m in the mood for them all. Beachy, adventurous, tundra (maybe not so much), or woodsy all sound magical right now.

I don’t really want to visit the same places over and over again, so I’m trying to think out of the box on where I should explore next. Here are a few destinations I’ve found that others may not have considered…

Wales, UK

Wales is not only a beautiful part of the world, but it is a magical place with plenty of castles and history for you to discover. The weather isn't exactly what you might call 'beach' weather (except for a couple of weeks a year and even those aren't guaranteed), but the forest walks, cabins and beautiful scenery look like they will just fill your soul with happiness. If you're feeling extra adventurous, you could visit the Brecon Beacons to discover the waterfalls featured in the Dark Knight Rises film.

Iceland

This is not exactly out of the box as it seems to be a more common destination for holiday-goers recently, but Iceland is a naturally beautiful place with incredible glaciers. It is home to the magnificent northern lights, the Aurora Borealis. Iceland doesn’t have a vast population, but it still attracts visitors from across the globe, especially photographers, since the landscape is so vibrant and stunning. There are plenty of tours available, like exploring glacial waterfalls or camping in a bubble under the stars! It can be a bit pricey compared to other destinations though, so saving would be essential. Again, this isn't a 'sit on the beach' style destination, but if you want to fill your mind with memories of a stunning country, you can't go wrong with Iceland.

Galapagos

To me, the Galapagos Islands seem like a myth I heard about in science class where they taught us about evolution, but it’s actually a super unique destination for those into the environment. Visit Galapagos during the dry season (June through November *cough cough* that means now!) so that you can see all the wonderful natural elements. 97% of the Galapagos is a national park, which is pretty incredible. The wildlife and environment are used for scientific research and are fully protected due to this. Like Iceland, getting here will cost you a pretty penny, but there are so many incredible opportunities that you can discover in this location. From swimming with sea turtles to viewing the 800+ species of mollusks or 400+ species of fish, your time here will be well spent! You may even get to experience an active volcano, as there have been many eruptions in the last 100 years. Imagine the photos and videos you could capture during a trip to this global treasure.

Malta

Malta is a small island found a ways off of the coast of Sicily, but very much a country in its own right. This country has a rich history, including WW2 time significance, so much so that it has its own war museum for visitors to visit and learn about. Malta has some fantastic scenery, beautiful blue waters, dazzling bays, and interesting rock formations too. Arguably the most unique thing about the island has to be the fact that it is home to Popeye Village, which is the actual village used to film the 1980 movie nearly 40 years ago.

It's not easy to find unique places to go when there are so many destinations crying out for visitors, but if you do your research, you can find some real hidden gems and broaden your horizons.
