Every Piece of Jewelry Tells a Story

This might sound like it’s coming right out of a Kay Jewelers’ commercial, but jewelry has a greater personal effect than you could ever imagine. Jewelry is not just a bunch of gemstones and medals strung together to make an elegant or dainty piece. Jewelry serves as reminders, memories, love, and thoughtfulness, which is why I like mine to be on my fingers and wrists as opposed to around my neck.

Now bear with me, I'm going to get very holistic here...

I was chatting with a friend recently about crystals and she was thinking about buying a moonstone ring as opposed to a moonstone crystal to carry around in her pocket. It got me thinking about how great of a reminder that would be. Every time she looks down or twirls the ring around her finger, she'll be reminded of calmness and new beginnings. I've always gravitated more toward rings and bracelets and it’s because they hold a power that works as a visual.

Statement jewelry might be the in thing and good for nights out, but dainty jewelry has more power than you know.

Jewelry is a common way for someone to express their gratitude or endearment toward others. I love jewelry just as much as the next person, but I have always mentioned when a loved one is going to get me jewelry, that I’d prefer a bracelet or ring over a necklace or earrings.

Jewelry serves as a reminder of the loved one that picked out this piece with you in mind, or that time you slayed your goal and treated yourself to some fine jewelry. On a ring or a bracelet, I can easily look down at my hands and see these fine pieces glimmering back at me, and even if it is for an instant, that person or accomplishment flits across my mind.

I think charm bracelets, or Alex and Ani style bracelets, are such an amazing concept because they allow you to commemorate your experiences. Each charm signals things like a trip or an emotion and when either you or someone wanting to show gratitude toward you can purchase a new piece for your collection, you will have that positive energy hanging on you every time you wear it. When you look down you will be reminded of that special person or time.

It might seem silly and small, but if I have any say over someone buying me jewelry I would hope it would be a ring or a bracelet, so I can think of them every time I receive a compliment or a glance.

Now, don't get it twisted. This does not mean I won't accept a necklace or earrings. I don’t discriminate against any certain jewelry piece! I will wear all sorts, but just as a personal preference, I like to be reminded of who cares about me. It sends good vibes through my body even if for a brief moment.
