I have a confession. I love Lifetime movies. There is a bittersweetness about not having cable anymore because I used to channel surf and would end up watching whatever ridiculous movie was on the Lifetime channel just because I couldn't not watch. Anybody else get
that feeling? I get that
Lifetime movies
are seen as a running joke but they can ultimately make a sick day better if your chicken noodle soup cant. Sometimes you need a good dramatized movie to get you through the day and Lifetime does not come up short. These movies are not box-office worthy by any means but they are so outrageous with their horrendous acting and corny drama you can't not want to watch.
I'm convinced Lifetime movies cure sickness so sit back, snuggle up, and neglect all of your responsibilities.
Call Me Crazy: A Five Film
Produced by Jennifer Aniston, this crazy mini-series within a movie has 5 films wrapped inside in which three of them correlate with one another. All stories deal with some version of mental illness and dive into the inner workings of mentally unhealthy characters. You'll meet schizophrenic Lucy and her sister Allison, bipolar Grace, depressed Eddie's and PTSD prone Maggie.
Pregnancy Pact
A classic Lifetime drum up. Based on a true story a group of high school girls makes a pact to get pregnant together. A reporter travels back to her hometown to investigate this string of pregnancies and finds out that a group of gullible girls has formed a pack to get pregnant and stick together through it. A real eye-opener to the naiveness of teenage pregnancy and how communities brush issues like this under the rug.
No One Would Tell
America's sweetheart, DJ Tanner from Full House plays Stacy Collins who is horrifically murdered by her 16-year-old boyfriend. Based on a true story, Stacy is a shy sweet girl who has a mad crush on Bobby, the most popular guy in school. Once he starts to take an interest in her, things tend to spiral towards rock bottom.
Odd Girl Out
Ahh Alexa Vega in her prime. A movie about a girl who is bullied by her group of friends to the point of contemplating suicide because they found out Vanessa (said girl) and the most popular girl in school (AKA Vanessa's's best friend) has a crush on the same guy. I'm talking weight jokes, hair jokes, homework betrayals, and friend group gang ups; anything they can think of to break down this friendship. I'm sure you can imagine how this one ends.
Taken: The Search for Sophie Parker
Sure, this movie is no Liam Neeson original but that doesn't stop Sophie's mom who is an NYPD detective from going on foreign adventures to see the safe return of her daughter who was abducted in Russia. Stevie, Sophie's mom, thought Sophie would be safe considering they were staying the at U.S. embassy but when Sophie and her friend meet a cute "concert promoter" at a museum they didnt know it would be them that would make the show.
She's Too Young
Almost a classic at this point. This movie debuted back in '04 and still remains a favorite. Halifax is hit with an outbreak of STDs among high school students. Hannah, who constantly feels the pressure to be sexually active in high school, is among one of those who have contracted the STD. Hannah does not reveal her sexual advances to her intrusive mother, who is trying to figure why this is happening.
Girl Fight
Haley is a high school girl who tries to fit in (I'm sensing Lifetime theme here) since she feels like some sort of intellectual freak because she skipped a grade. The popular girls wouldnt accept her and out of rage Haley ranted about them on social media. Big mistake. The popular crew was furious and physically beat Haley up. After denying all accusations about the fight, Haley and the group now have to battle this out in court.
