All right friends, I know I talk a lot about all the places I would like to go, I would want you to go, and they’re all miraculous and beautiful in their way. Well, I’ve got another one for you. I’m currently in the process of figuring out what I should do with my eight days of vacation I have left for the year, so naturally, I’m on a whole bunch of different travel sites figuring it out.
I want it to be summer all year long because thats my favorite season in most places. In Mauritius, summer is from November to April. They say the best time to visit is October to December before its get TOO hot and humid. Well, thats convenient, thats when I need to use my vacation days...
Say ‘Hello’ to Mauritius. A little island in the Indian Ocean that I think is WAY underrated. This Volcanic Island known for its lagoons is a stunning country and is a popular place for tourists all over the world. Just another great place to spend some time away from your daily life listed here on Daily Cup of JoJo. You’ll be looking at Mauritius hotel booking right away when you realize you can enjoy their exotic street food, try out a tea plantation tour or hang out at one of their fabulous beaches. Read on for some of the things you can do in Mauritius, which will want to make you jump on the next plane out there.

Street Food
I’ve tried some decent street food in my life. Honestly, Washington D.C. takes the cake in my opinion, but after stalking Mauritius street vendors, I think this could be a game changer. Mauritius is unique because it brings in influences from all over the world including African, Indian, Chinese and French, so you will be able to try some amazing food. I would say it’s not for the picky eaters though. If textures scare you, pack a lunch, or you’ll probably survive eating some mine frites (fried noodles).
Rent a Car
Yes, I’m an advocate for renting a car in foreign lands. Partly because I’m turning 25 this year and can legally rent a vehicle but also because it truly is the best way to see a city. If you are looking for a vacation where you can explore the landscape at your leisure, renting a car is a great idea, and it will be amazing. You can set off early in the morning with snacks in the car and travel around to the different beaches, country parks and cities with ease. Make sure to bring a map with you because the GPS doesn’t always work! Kick it old school.

Tea Plantation Tours
Rejoice Friends! If you love nothing more than a good cup of tea to start or end your day, you will be glad to know that you can enjoy a trip around one of the many tea plantations in the country. Tea is made here in many forms so you will be able to see the whole process and enjoy a cup of fresh tea at the end of it all. This is an excellent option for any day you want to have a relaxed atmosphere and a fantastic day out. You can visit the Bois Cheri Tea Plantations and have a meal on the roof terrace after your tour to top off a magical day.
Talk to the People
If you enjoy meeting new people when you go abroad, you can have some fun speaking to the friendly and welcoming people who are happy to make friends with you. Seriously, they LOVE tourists. The people of Mauritius are incredibly nice, and they will be happy to make you feel like one of the family as soon as you land in their country. English is one of the native languages on the island so language barriers shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I’m sure they would be happy to suggest things to do or chat with you about their culture. Island life is very different than large countries.

Visit the Beach
The beauty of an island vacation is the fact that you can visit many many many different beaches during your stay. The coast of Mauritius is amazing, and you will be able to enjoy white sands, blue skies and the most incredible sunsets you have ever seen. For a perfect day in Mauritius, you can pack up a picnic in the morning, bring your sunscreen and some toys and spend the day lying on the beach and playing in the sea. I know, you probably think that Mauritius isn’t that big, how are there ‘many’ beaches? There is over twenty! You’ve got some research to do to pick your favorite.
